A New Landscape

2019, Inkjet Print (variable dimensions), slide projectors, Galerie Kernweine Stuttgart ---

A New Landscape examines our view onto landscape and the innocent naturalness that we often want to see in it. The large-scale collages consist of two elements: pale aged stones and digitally imitated leaves. Both are photographic observations made in Israel, representing two types of landscape: the “old” and the “new” one.

The ruins are remains of destroyed Palestinian villages that have been covered with 240 million trees – often European species – by the Israeli government to hide a part of history. This “new landscape” is promoted by posters depicting the ideal tree as a computer-generated structure.
